Job summary

The NC Department of Transportation seeks a senior administrator to direct the Fleet procurement and material management unit. You will oversee procurement, production, upfit, fleet telematics, and material management, reporting to the State Equipment Superintendent.

Responsibilities include planning programs, budgets, and staffing, reviewing complex specifications, coordinating with leadership, procurement staff and vendors, and delivering annual performance and inventory reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in the program area, including two years of supervisory program experience.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may qualify per policy.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment procurement and fleet management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Fleet procurement and material management sections, including Upfit, Telematics and Production.
• Plan, evaluate, establish and monitor section programs, budgets and staffing requirements.
• Review specifications and oversee procurement of equipment across 200+ classes with $60–$90M annual budget.
• Coordinate with leadership, procurement staff and vendors on equipment and warehouse inventory matters.
• Prepare annual reports on equipment and parts movement for upper management.
