Job summary

Charleston County Fleet Operations seeks an experienced Fleet/Operations Manager to lead the Fleet Operations team and supervise key positions. You will assess current vehicles for replacement, analyze bids, and ensure compliance to specifications while guiding delivery.

Responsibilities include coordinating with departments, procuring vehicles, analyzing data via fleet software, and overseeing onboarding and auction processes. A strong background in fleet management and leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional work experience in Fleet Management, Logistics, Operations or Cost Management with supervisory background.
• Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field with supervisory/fleet background.
• 4+ years of fleet management/logistics experience; degree may be substituted.
• Substantial knowledge of Faster, Ward, and Mansfield Fleet & Fuel Management Software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid SC Driver's license (or ability to obtain within 3 months) and comply with motor vehicle policy.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with departments to identify vehicle type and quantity needed.
• Engage vendors to procure vehicles and equipment.
• Use fleet software to analyze data for replacement decisions.
• Complete documentation for fleet onboarding.
• Serve as primary Transportation Manager during EOC activation.
• Review replacement requests and approve based on criteria.
• Act as customer service liaison with County departments.
• Attend trainings and committee meetings.
