Woolsey Law PLLC in Jacksonville, FL seeks a hands-on Controller to manage and strengthen the firm’s accounting function. You will ensure accurate recording, reconciliation, and documentation of financial activity as the firm grows.

The role involves close collaboration with external partners and HR to maintain precise payroll and trust accounting. You will lead month-end close, prepare key financial statements, and maintain a CPA-ready environment.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including month-end close and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online; experience with Ramp, Clio, or similar tools is a plus.
• Trust/IOLTA accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Prior law firm controller or accounting experience is a plus.
• CPA or progress toward a CPA is a plus, not required.

Mansioni

• Manage monthly close with journal entries, adjustments and accruals.
• Prepare bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Produce monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports.
• Maintain QuickBooks in a CPA-ready state for year-end and tax prep.
• Prepare and review payroll for staff and contractors; ensure correct classifications.
• Oversee AP processes, spend management, and coding accuracy.
• Monitor trust/IOLTA reconciliations and ensure client/firm fund separation.
• Coordinate with external CPA/tax firm and banking partners.
• Reconcile Clio matter data with QuickBooks and track case costs.
• Prepare weekly cash position and monitor upcoming cash needs.
• Document and maintain SOPs for month-end close, AP, payroll, and trust reconciliations.
