Prince William County Government seeks an experienced financial accounting and reporting leader to serve as Assistant Director of Finance for Financial Reporting & Control (Comptroller). This role leads a diverse team, works with County leadership, and shapes accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls for a large local government.

The position oversees month-end close, year-end close, ACFR, audits, and guidance on US GAAP and GASB.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. and 8 years of progressive experience leading financial accounting, auditing, reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience with accounting/ERP systems in a government environment is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provide strategic leadership for the County’s Financial Reporting and Control team, including accountability and performance management.
• Oversee preparation of ACFR, PAFR, Single Audit, and other audits and advisory services.
• Guide month-end and year-end close processes and reporting requirements.
• Serve as SME for technical accounting and County chart of accounts and ensure US GAAP/GASB compliance.
• Manage vendors, contracts, and budgets related to the Finance division.
• Improve financial processes and internal controls to mitigate risks.
