Job summary

Durham County Government in Durham, NC seeks a qualified finance professional to manage the County’s financial operations, develop procedures for complex accounting, improve internal controls, and prepare and analyze financial statements under the Finance Department. The role reports to the Deputy CFO/Assistant CFO for Financial Reporting.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, at least four years of accounting experience, and knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and UGG

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• At least four years of accounting experience.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze complex financial statements and notes.
• Assist EMS with financial reporting and data analysis.
• Manage accounting and financial reporting between EMS billing and general ledger.
• Develop and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Handle debt, investments, and banking accounting and reporting.
• Collaborate with Budget department and financial advisors.
