Job summary

BOWA - Design Build Experts in McLean, VA is seeking a Controller to own the full accounting function and lead the finance team from day one. You will manage GL, AP, AR, Billing, and Payroll, and partner with the CFO on ESOP accounting and board-level reporting.

In this role you’ll own the month-end close, ensure accurate financial statements in Sage 300 CRE, and partner with division leaders to drive financial strategy as the company scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Construction or project-based industry experience strongly preferred
• Experience with Sage 300 CRE (or similar project accounting software)
• Working knowledge of WIP reporting, job costing, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
• Strong Excel skills and comfort with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT)
• CPA license preferred; licensure pursued encouraged
