Job summary

STR is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting team in Woburn, MA. The role requires hands‑on financial leadership with CPA credentials and deep US GAAP knowledge, including SOX controls and government contracting experience.

You will build and manage a 10+ person team, own monthly/quarterly closes, and drive SEC‑ready reporting capabilities as STR scales. In‑office presence is expected during close periods at our Woburn, MA office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA.
• 15+ years finance experience, incl. 5+ years as Controller or senior leader.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP.
• Knowledge of POC accounting and EAC preparation.
• SOX/internal controls expertise.
• Experience managing accounting teams of 5+ individuals.
• Public‑company reporting and controls experience.
• Ability to obtain security clearance (US citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 10+ accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Oversee all aspects of financial accounting, tax compliance and planning, balance sheet integrity, technical accounting, and implementation of accounting standards.
• Leverage AI and automation tools to enhance accounting processes and close efficiency.
• Direct and refine processes related to cost and technical accounting.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and government contracting regulations (FAR, DFARS, CAS).
• Oversee POC revenue recognition and EAC preparation for government contracts.
• Own monthly and quarterly close and balance sheet reconciliation oversight.
• Develop public‑company‑grade reporting processes and disclosures as STR grows.
• Partner with CFO and leadership on all accounting matters and Board reporting.
