Job summary

Ascendo Resources seeks an experienced Controller to lead financial operations for a growing transportation and logistics organization. You will report to the President, oversee treasury, financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, and planning, and manage a team of 3 direct and 10 indirect reports.

The ideal candidate balances strategic oversight with hands-on accounting, strengthens controls, improves efficiency, and delivers actionable insights to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Progressive accounting and financial management experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience overseeing treasury management, cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Experience managing accounting teams and day-to-day operations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Experience with financial systems, process improvements, and software implementation projects.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow management.
• Provide strategic financial recommendations to executive leadership and ownership.
• Develop and maintain financial controls to improve efficiency and accountability.
• Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and propose cost-saving opportunities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance personnel.
• Manage daily cash positions, ACH, wire transfers, and banking relationships.
• Coordinate annual external audits and tax scheduling; oversee tax reporting.
• Oversee accounts receivable/payable and payroll processes.
• Maintain accurate financial records and GAAP compliance.
