Job summary

Public Health – Seattle and King County (PHSKC) seeks a Chief of Financial Strategy and Compliance to guide long-term fiscal sustainability. This strategic leader will oversee the Office of Financial Management and Compliance, set finance policies, and ensure strong internal controls across six divisions.

The role requires collaboration with the Department Director and CAO, managing a multi‑hundred‑million budget, and advancing equity through fiscal decisions and grant management.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to Equity and Social Justice in a leadership role.
• Experience in public sector budgeting, GAAP/GASB, and grant accounting.
• Proven ability to lead finance teams in a complex environment.
• Experience managing internal controls and financial compliance across multiple programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budget development aligned with department priorities and equity goals.
• Ensure department-wide financial health and effective allocation of resources.
• Lead financial analyses, reporting, and compliance with funders and regulations.
• Maintain grants management with strong internal controls and accountability.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to department leadership and external partners.
