Job summary

Public Health – Seattle and King County (PHSKC) seeks a Chief of Financial Strategy and Compliance to guide fiscal sustainability and strengthen finance infrastructure. This leadership role advises senior officials, manages a central finance team, and ensures coordination across divisions to support equitable health outcomes.

The position involves long-range planning, grants management, and overseeing accounting practices, with an emphasis on transparency and accountability within a $500M budget.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field with seven+ years in finance.
Experience leading a finance team in a complex organization and in public sector budgeting.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and grant accounting and reporting.

Responsibilities

Oversee department budget development aligned with priorities and health equity.
Direct, review, and ensure accuracy of fiscal analyses, reporting, and standards.
Manage department-wide financial year-end processes and statements.
Represent the department to Executive Office, Council, and partners.
Lead internal controls and compliance across funders and regulations.
