Job summary

King County’s Administrative Services Division seeks a Financial Compliance Manager to lead grants compliance, ensure GAAP adherence, and coordinate audits. This role reports to the Chief of Financial Strategy and Compliance and supervises a five-member grants team.

Ideal candidates will bring extensive experience with federal/state grants, strong communication, and a proactive approach to risk and internal control improvements within Public Health operations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to Racial Equity and Social Justice.
• Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in compliance oversight of large, complex federal and state operating grants.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, accounting, or finance.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ supervising a Grants Compliance team.
• Experience with external and internal audit activities and grant management related to government funding.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, writing and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as department audit liaison for external and internal audits with SAO and other auditors.
• Provide leadership in developing staff and teams in contract monitoring and field monitoring support.
• Develop and maintain a department-wide contract monitoring manual with clear roles and responsibilities.
• Coach, motivate, and evaluate staff; manage hiring and disciplinary actions.
• Participate in process and continuous improvement efforts focused on budget, finance, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with CPRES and division staff to ensure GAAP and policy compliance.
• Train staff on policies, procedures, and grant compliance concepts.
