Job summary

Cal Poly is seeking an Executive Associate Dean to serve as a senior academic leader and strategic advisor to the dean and the college's executive leadership team. This role maintains an integrated view of programs, people, operations, partnerships and resources to guide long-term success.

You will translate college priorities into coordinated actions, advise on complex issues across boundaries, and represent the dean when needed.

Qualifications

• PhD or terminal degree required.
• Credentials suitable for tenured appointment as full professor.
• At least five years of higher education administrative experience with increasing responsibility.
• Distinguished record in teaching, research and service.
• Proven leadership of people, programs and initiatives.
• Experience collaborating across disciplines to advance shared priorities.
• Understanding of faculty roles, shared governance and university environment.
• Commitment to collegial and collaborative interactions across college and university.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic counsel to the dean on college priorities.
• Translate college priorities into coordinated action with college leaders.
• Ensure executive decisions are informed by academic context and institutional knowledge.
• Represent and act on behalf of the dean when appropriate.
• Oversee academic operations, facilities and land-use planning as assigned.
