Job summary

Park Avenue Armory is seeking a Manager of Special Events to lead fundraising and execution of high-end donor events, including the annual Gala attracting 500 donors. You will oversee planning, budgets, and vendor coordination, while collaborating with Development and other departments to ensure exemplary events.

The role is full-time, with nights, weekends, and holiday work as needed, reporting to the Director of Special Events and supporting the Development team.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years’ experience in managing special events or frontline fundraising for a nonprofit.
  • Proven excellence in organizational and laser-focused attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience improving systems and developing processes for efficiency.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office; Tessitura experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Help manage and execute fundraising events, including a major Gala.
  • Coordinate administrative and logistical aspects of major fundraisers.
  • Collaborate on materials, run of show, décor, and entertainment for Gala and events.
  • Manage portfolios of cultivation and private donor events and budgets.
  • Coordinate back-office tasks: contracts, vendors, scheduling, expenses.
  • Ensure events align with the Armory’s aesthetic standards.
