Job summary

The Public Theater in New York is seeking a dynamic Manager, Special Events to lead planning and execution of high-profile cultivation and fundraising events, including Opening Nights downtown and Shakespeare in the Park.

You will coordinate across departments and external partners to ensure flawless events, supervise one direct report, and oversee budget tracking with Concur and Excel in a fast-paced nonprofit arts environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in event planning, logistics, fundraising, or a related field.
• Experience managing multiple events and projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
• Experience supervising staff and managing budgets.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends for events; hybrid onsite work.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of a wide range of Public Theater events year-round.
• Coordinate with departments and external partners for seamless events.
• Manage event logistics, ticketing, venue needs, and vendor relations.
• Generate invitation lists and event reports from Tessitura; manage data.
• Oversee seating, guest lists, and donor communications; onsite leadership.
• Track expenses and assist with Gala budgets; process vendor invoices.
