Job summary

Charlevoix-Emmet ISD is seeking a Communications Coordinator to lead print and digital materials, media relations, websites and social channels. The role emphasizes writing, editing and content creation across brochures, newsletters and web content.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in communications, with experience in crisis communications, AP/Chicago style, and copy editing. Fall 2026 start; 220 school-year days; compensation based on experience.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, or journalism.
• Five or more years of related experience in communications, journalism, or public relations.
• Ability to write in AP or Chicago style; graphic design experience; knowledge of best practices.
• Proven record of securing press coverage.
• Experience writing, sourcing and photographing content for multiple formats.
• Exceptional writing, proofreading, and content editing skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all ISD printed and digital materials, such as media releases, newsletters, brochures/flyers and pamphlets.
• Create content for and regularly update Char-Em ISD website(s).
• Create content for and regularly update Char-Em ISD social media sites.
• Take photographs of ISD events for social media, website, and printed content.
• Maintain ongoing media relations including media lists, inquiries, and news releases.
• Conceptualize and execute communication projects.
• Create and approve compelling content for print and electronic materials.
• Maintain a unified and consistent organization image in all communications.
• Produce the In the Know internal newsletter and other staff newsletters.
• Create presentations and executive speeches as requested.
• Manage community relations events and activities.
• Provide PR guidance to local districts, including crisis communications.
• Oversee internal and external graphic design and marketing materials.
