Job summary

Glenbard Township High School District 87 in Glen Ellyn, IL seeks a Director of Communications to collaborate with the Superintendent and lead a district-wide communications and marketing strategy that informs and engages the Glenbard community. This role oversees the Communications Specialist and shapes district messaging across media, elevating district visibility through strategic outreach.

The ideal candidate will drive storytelling, maintain brand consistency, and navigate sensitive topics

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field.
• Extensive knowledge of Social Media Platforms, HTML/CSS, and Web Technologies.
• Demonstrated experience with writing effective AI Prompts.
• Superior Writing Skills (AP style) and strong digital media experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct all communications District-wide and oversee District News, press releases, inquiries.
• Supervise partnerships with external and internal audiences.
• Represent Glenbard as liaison with internal and external constituents.
• Schedule, design, produce, and distribute district communications and reports.
• Develop crisis and FOIA communications strategy and oversee digital media.
• Draft online copy for articles, websites, and social media; monitor analytics.
• Photograph and/or video district events for social and websites.
• Collaborate with Superintendent and Board on recognition of staff and student achievements.
