Job summary

Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Pittsburgh seeks a Director of Refugee and Immigrant Services to lead immigrant and refugee social services, including resettlement, case management, peer support, and community collaborations.

The role includes grant proposals, reporting, and building a trauma‑informed, inclusive team environment while advocating for clients and coordinating with funders and partners regionally and nationally.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in leadership with nonprofit administration.
• Experience working with refugees and/or other immigrants.
• Personal experience with the US immigration system preferred.
• Experience supervising a large team and mentoring new supervisors.
• Collaborative, humble leadership with strong listening and synthesis skills.
• Strong program design, monitoring and evaluation, and grant compliance experience.
• Creativity, curiosity, lifelong learning, kindness, strategic thinking and justice passion.

Responsibilities

• Ensures services have policies, procedures, and training aligned with goals and grant/contract requirements.
• Creates emergency response plans and ensures programs can respond to events.
• Stays abreast of developments concerning refugees and immigrants.
• Participates in JFCS leadership for strategy, outcomes, impact, and organizational well‑being.
• Builds and maintains a strong team through hiring, onboarding, supervision, development.
• Sets the tone for a high‑functioning team with clear communication and accountability.
• Convenes staff meetings and oversees project meetings as needed.
• Provides professional and personal development for department staff.
