West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) in Beckley, WV invites applications for the role of Director of Career & Professional Development. This leadership position coordinates events, services, and opportunities to guide students toward careers and graduate school, while collaborating with the Student Success Center and employers.

You will advise students one-on-one and in groups, create marketing materials, and develop career readiness events.

Qualifications

• Two years of directly related experience is required.
• Experience in career services or higher education is preferred.
• Equivalents to the listed qualifications will be considered.

Responsabilités

• Advise students on major/career exploration, resumes/cover letters, interview skills, job search strategies, and graduate school preparation.
• Collaborate with the Student Success Center to provide major/career advising to incoming students.
• Interpret career assessment results and facilitate individual and group sessions.
• Guide students on career tools such as VitaNavis, Handshake, LinkedIn, etc.
• Create and promote marketing materials to students, alumni, and faculty/staff.
• Coach students on future planning to improve WVU Tech’s retention rates.
• Develop, coordinate, and implement career readiness events (e.g., Cozy Up with Career, Mock Interviews).
• Create, collect and analyze recruiting and outcome data (e.g., Graduate Placement Survey).
• Build relationships with graduate/professional schools and hiring agencies.
• Coordinate with University Relations to connect students with WVU Tech alumni for mentoring.
• Evaluate and monitor program applicants; develop individualized academic/work plans.
• Communicate with deans, chairs, and faculty; enroll and monitor progress.
• Maintain confidential student files; plan annual activities calendar and goals.
• Manage the Career & Professional Development budget and publish educational materials.
