Job summary

Highmark Health seeks an accomplished investment accounting leader to manage the accounting and reporting for a broad portfolio of asset classes in GAAP and SAP. You will lead a professional staff, ensure timely monthly close, and drive improvements in controls and reporting accuracy for the organization and its affiliates.

Responsibilities include overseeing regulatory filings, evaluating new accounting pronouncements, and partnering with treasury and finance leaders to optimize investment

Qualifications

• 10 years of accounting experience including GAAP and Statutory financial reporting or auditing.
• 8 years of investment accounting experience with an insurance company, bank, or investment company.
• 8 years of experience with multi-basis accounting concepts used in investments for amortization, income accruals, and calculation of investment gains/losses.
• 5 years of experience managing and supervising professional staff.
• 8 years of experience utilizing investment accounting software systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform management responsibilities including hiring/termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity.
• Plan, organize, staff, direct and control day-to-day operations; develop and implement policies and programs; may have budgetary responsibility.
• Direct and oversee the Investment Accounting & Reporting unit in reporting monthly investment results for GAAP and SAP with analytics.
• Direct and oversee internal/external financial reporting and income analysis on investment portfolios in GAAP and SAP reporting.
• Maintain regulatory compliance of investment schedules for quarterly and annual reports and regulatory filings; manage audit relationships.
