Job summary

Tufts University’s Career Center is seeking an Assistant Director of Employer Relations to build and sustain partnerships with employers, alumni, and external partners. The role collaborates with career advisors across Tufts’ schools to connect students with internships, full-time roles, and pipeline opportunities, leveraging Handshake and CRM tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 2-3 years of related professional experience including: career/academic advising; business operations, communications/marketing, recruiting or human resources.
• Strong relationship building, program management, event planning, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Proven presentation skills and comfort level in navigating a complex university setting and partnering with employers.
• Knowledge of national trends in career services, the job market, and diverse student populations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong customer focus, attention to detail and ability to handle interruptions.
• Ability to market Tufts students and establish relationships with employers.
• Strong technical skills: CRM management (Less Annoying CRM) and familiarity with Handshake, MS Office (Excel) and Canva.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic partner within industry-aligned career communities to develop a shared strategy for employer and alumni engagement activities.
• Daily relationship building with contacts from public and private sector organizations.
• Collaborate with Alumni Engagement and University Advancement to deepen relationships with engaged alumni and external partners.
• Identify employer partners in assigned industry sectors and engage in strategic recruitment efforts with Tufts.
• Consult with employers on recruiting strategies and market Tufts to potential employers.
• Supervise 1 student employee and work with a broader career center team.
