Job summary

City of Temple’s Facility Services Department seeks a Construction Services Division Director to lead architectural construction projects from design through completion. You will manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality, coordinating with design consultants, contractors, and city leadership.

You will direct project teams, review drawings, ensure compliance with regulations, and mentor staff while driving modernization of city facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in construction management or related field.
• 4 years of commercial building construction and renovation experience.
• 3 years in a managerial role.
• Knowledge of building components (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, foundations, framing, roofing).
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Directs City-funded construction projects from design to completion, managing time, cost, and quality.
• Oversees project meetings, documentation, and team collaboration.
• Reviews drawings to ensure quality and alignment with community needs.
• Ensures quality control and site visits with consultants and contractors.
• Directs and negotiates contracts, change orders, and RFIs.
• Maintains and saves construction plans and records.
• Trains project staff in procedures and processes.
• Collaborates on planning and budget for future projects.
• Stays current on regulations, city policies, and safety guidelines.
