Job summary

City of Maypearl is seeking a Facilities & Construction Director to lead the maintenance and care of all municipal facilities and oversee major capital projects from design through completion. The role combines asset management with operating budgets to ensure cost-effective, compliant facility operations.

You will coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other city departments, guide a team, and ensure ADA accessibility, safety, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, construction management, architecture, engineering, or public administration is required.
• Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience overseeing building maintenance or construction projects.
• Three years of staff management, contractor coordination, and budget oversight; local government experience is a plus.

Job description

The Facilities & Construction Department is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and care of all City facilities, as well as managing new existing capital construction projects. The Department directs safe, accessible and cost-effective operations across the City's building portfolio, integrates asset management with operating and capital budgets, and ensures that facility improvements and construction projects meet City standards. Additionally, the Department oversees custodial operations, building maintenance, contract management and ADA accessibility compliance. The Facilities and Construction Director reports to City Management and leads a team dedicated to maintaining high service levels across all municipal building. The Department manages a multiyear capital replacement and facilities improvement plan and oversees major construction projects from preliminary design through completion. Staff coordinate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal departments to ensure efficient project delivery, proper documentation, accurate budget management, and successful facility operations.

• The next Facilities and Construction Directorshould have a broad foundation of knowledge infacilities management, construction and publicadministration.
• A bachelor's degree in a relatedfield such as facilities management, constructionmanagement, architecture, engineering, or publicadministration is required.
• Candidates shouldhave at least seven years of progressivelyresponsible experience overseeing buildingmaintenance or construction projects.
• Three years managing staff, coordinating contractors, and managing budgets. Localgovernment experience is a plus.
