Job description

The Facilities & Construction Department is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and care of all City facilities, as well as managing new and existing capital construction projects. The Department directs safe, accessible, and cost‑effective operations across the City’s building portfolio, integrates asset management with operating and capital budgets, and ensures that facility improvements and construction projects meet City standards. Additionally, the Department oversees custodial operations, building maintenance, contract management, and ADA accessibility compliance. The Facilities and Construction Director reports to City Management and leads a team dedicated to maintaining high service levels across all municipal buildings. The Department manages a multiyear capital replacement and facilities improvement plan and oversees major construction projects from preliminary design through completion. Staff coordinate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal departments to ensure efficient project delivery, proper documentation, accurate budget management, and successful facility operations.

Education and Experience -

• A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as facilities management, construction management, architecture, engineering, or public administration is required.
• Candidates should have at least seven years of progressively responsible experience overseeing building maintenance or construction projects.
• Three years managing staff, coordinating contractors, and managing budgets. Local government experience is a plus.
• Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.
