Job summary

Miriam’s Kitchen is seeking a Chief Development Officer in Washington, DC. You will design and execute a comprehensive development program to raise over $7 million from individuals, foundations, and corporations, while guiding donor-focused communications to engage current and prospective supporters.

As a member of the Executive Team, you’ll collaborate with the CEO and Directors to align development with the organization’s mission and housing-first approach, supervise a diverse team, and act as

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience fundraising in nonprofit or mission-driven org.
• Strong leadership and collaboration across departments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a budget and strategic planning.
• Familiarity with Salesforce or similar fundraising software.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute strategy to raise $7m+ from private resources.
• Set yearly funding goals and donor targets.
• Lead donor communications and engagement across audiences.
• Develop marketing/communications plan for development.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward leadership/major donors (50–100).
• Formalize Planned Giving program.
• Partner with Volunteer Manager to engage volunteers as donors.
• Oversee data systems, CRM, and reporting for revenue tracking.
• Support Board and Board Development Committee.
