The Middle East Institute (MEI) in Washington, DC is seeking a Chief Development Officer to design and lead MEI's comprehensive development function. The role partners with the Board and senior leadership to establish fundraising priorities, diversify revenue, and build a high-performing team dedicated to major gifts and strategic partnerships.

In-person, five days per week, based at MEI's Washington, DC headquarters.

Formación

• Must have at least ten (10) years of major gifts fundraising experience.
• Senior-level development experience including responsibility for fundraising strategy, donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Proven ability to design and lead major-gift campaigns or comparable fundraising initiatives.
• Experience building, leading, and developing a comprehensive development function and team.
• Experience partnering with boards and senior leaders to advance fundraising goals.
• Proven ability to cultivate and secure support from corporations, foundations, prominent individuals, and mission-aligned organizations.
• Experience developing sophisticated fundraising communications and cases for support.
• Willingness to travel and engage with donors in the United States and the Middle East.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy aligned with MEI's mission and long-term financial needs.
• Partner with the Board of Governors and senior leadership to establish fundraising priorities and institutionalize development practices.
• Diversify funding sources and develop sustainable revenue models.
• Lead organization-wide fundraising efforts and coordinate staff, board members, experts, and other stakeholders.
• Build, lead, and develop the development team and set performance standards.
• Design and lead major-gift campaigns targeting individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations.
• Cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and institutional partners in the US and Middle East.
• Expand MEI's donor base by engaging new audiences and strategic partners.
• Develop fundraising communications and case materials explaining MEI's mission and funding priorities.
• Oversee grant opportunities and grant preparation for government and foundations.
• Establish annual and long-term fundraising plans with measurable goals and reporting.
