Job summary

North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC seeks an Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development to provide senior leadership for fundraising priorities and philanthropic goals. You will manage a portfolio of 70–90 prospects, lead a team of 5–7 Directors of Development, and drive donor solicitation and stewardship efforts.

The role requires at least a bachelor’s degree with eight years of fundraising experience (master’s preferred), travel, and a proven track record in major gifts within

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership, effective management, and clear direction to staff while achieving ambitious fundraising goals.
• Ability to build, develop, and lead high-performing teams that are motivated, collaborative, and focused on fundraising objectives.
• Proven success as a major gift and principal gift fundraiser, with donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with stakeholders at all levels.
• Thorough knowledge of annual, planned, deferred, and capital giving programs.
• Ability to manage complex details, priorities, and deadlines with discipline and judgment.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead advancement team in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and goals.
• Collaborate with university leadership to set measurable fundraising priorities.
• Strengthen major and principal gifts pipeline and donor engagement.
• Provide strategic direction to development staff and ensure coordinated fundraising efforts.
• Maintain accurate donor records and report progress to leadership.
