Job summary

North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC seeks a Director of Development for the School of Law to advance philanthropic support. You will manage a major gifts portfolio and work with university leadership to align donor interests with strategic priorities.

The role focuses on gifts of $25,000 and above and requires extensive donor engagement, travel, and stewardship. You will report to the AVP for Development and collaborate with the Dean, faculty, and alumni to drive transformational

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years in major gifts or related field.
Experience in corporate relations, foundation relations, or development preferred.
Knowledge of higher education fundraising landscape is important.

Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of 100–125 qualified major gift prospects, advancing through identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
Develop and execute individualized cultivation strategies to align donor interests with School of Law priorities.
Solicit major gifts of $25,000+ and pursue six- to seven-figure commitments.
Collaborate with leadership to coordinate engagement with senior administrators, faculty and volunteers.
Maintain donor records in the university CRM and prepare funding proposals and briefings.
