Job summary

City Year Buffalo seeks a Director of Development to design and execute the development strategy, leveraging private, government, and education sectors to expand resources for city-wide impact. You will lead donor engagement, major gifts, and events, working closely with the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team.

The role focuses on growing individual giving to $10,000+ levels, managing the Advisory Board, and coordinating with corporate/foundation funders to secure multi-year

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of progressive fundraising/development experience with multi-year giving
• BA/BS required; MBAs, MPPS or related advanced degrees preferred
• Strong persuasive writing skills are required
• Experience serving on diverse teams is required
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills are required

Responsibilities

• External Relations: plan donor engagement across private, government, and education sectors
• Represent City Year at external events; occasional travel and evenings/weekends
• Develop and implement a Buffalo growth campaign for City Year Buffalo
• Manage Individual Giving; cultivate and steward major donors
• Co-Chair the Advisory Board Development Committee and engage the board
• Grow corporate and foundation multi-year gifts
• Manage fundraising events including the Annual Gala and private receptions
• Promote City Year culture and mission locally and nationally
• Collaborate with site departments and national HQ on donor records and reporting
