Job summary

Buffalo City Mission is seeking a Sr. Director of Development to lead fundraising initiatives in Buffalo, NY. This full-time role requires building and managing donor relationships, major gifts, and corporate partnerships while guiding the Development team to advance the mission.

The position emphasizes strategic planning, performance metrics, and community engagement, with a strong expectation of Christian faith and leadership in a faith-based organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in fundraising and development.
• Proven track record of securing gifts across multiple fundraising channels.
• In the midst of a mature walk with Jesus Christ.
• Experience leading and managing a comprehensive development program and a high-performing team.
• Strong understanding of donor cultivation and stewardship practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with the organization's plan and goals.
• Serve as external representative building relationships with donors, partners, community leaders, and stakeholders.
• Establish annual and long-term fundraising goals and metrics; report to CEO and Board.
• Stay current on philanthropy trends and incorporate innovative approaches.
• Develop and manage the Development department budget and resources.
• Represent the organization at events to raise awareness and cultivate donors and partners.
