City Year Buffalo seeks a Director of Development to design and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that mobilizes private, government, and education sectors to support City Year's mission in Buffalo.

The role leads donor engagement, major gifts ($10,000+), board and foundation relations, and annual gala planning, while building a culture of philanthropy across the site and with City Year’s national HQ in Boston.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of progressive fundraising/development experience with proven fundraising track record that includes multi-year giving.
• BA/BS required. Preference given to MBAs, MPPs, and/or other relevant advanced degrees.
• Solid, persuasive writing skills required.
• Experience serving on diverse teams required.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills required.
• Knowledge of the Buffalo donor community preferred.
• Strong and efficient use of Microsoft Office required, knowledge of Salesforce platform a plus.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of young adults in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team environment.

Responsibilities

• External Relations: plan donor engagement across private, government, and education sectors and represent City Year in external community events.
• Implement Growth Campaign: develop, plan, and implement a growth campaign for City Year in Buffalo.
• Individual Giving Program Development: promote giving, cultivate and solicit major donors, and 10,000+ gifts.
• Board Management and Engagement: manage the Board, co-chair the Advisory Board's Development Committee.
• Corporate and Foundation Management: establish corporate/foundation strategy and manage funders.
• Fundraising Events: oversee events including Annual Gala and private receptions.
• City Year Culture: embody City Year values and raise local brand awareness.
• Organizational Management: help shape strategy and coordinate with City Year HQ and local teams.
