Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Deputy District Engineer for the Bryan District Headquarters. You will lead engineering programs, supervise staff, and coordinate with local, state, and federal partners to deliver major transportation projects.

The role requires a P.E. license, 5 years of transportation engineering experience, and at least 4 years of managerial leadership. On-site work in Bryan, TX with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science per TX PELS; substitutions for experience may apply.
  • 5 years transportation engineering as a Licensed Professional Engineer (LPE) in planning, location, design, construction, operation and maintenance; 4 years managerial/supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to operate a state vehicle.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer; if not licensed in Texas, must obtain license within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering oversight of district activities including planning, design, construction and maintenance.
  • Advise the District Engineer and coordinate with local, state and federal officials.
  • Lead district safety and legal office activities and supervise district staff.
  • Develop work programs to meet transportation needs and district goals.
  • Represent TxDOT in public forums and collaborations with partners.
