Job summary

AM General is seeking an experienced procurement leader in Michigan to develop strategic purchasing plans and lead a team of buyers while coordinating with internal and external customers to ensure timely, compliant procurement of diverse materials.

The role requires 5+ years in procurement, familiarity with defense industry standards, and strong data analytics to drive cost savings and process improvements. The position is office-based with opportunities to influence major programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, finance, engineering, or a related field required.
• Advanced degree or certification is a plus.
• 5+ years of procurement experience required.
• Experience in US Defense Industry preferred (FAR/DFAR knowledge a plus).
• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
• Familiarity with SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans aligned with project goals and objectives.
• Lead a team of purchasing professionals and provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
• Collaborate with Sr Buyers, Purchasing Managers, and other internal and external customers to understand requirements, specifications, and timelines to proactively plan procurement activities.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors based on capabilities, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and quality of goods and services.
• Oversee the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Analyze data and generate and maintain reports on main purchasing activities, performance, and cost savings for senior management.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on execution project plan(s), including finance, operations, and legal, to ensure seamless integration and coordination of purchasing activities.
• Conduct comprehensive analysis of our business processes, operations, and financial data to identify areas of potential value creation and improvement.
• Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure effectiveness of value capture initiatives and track progress towards financial and timing goals.
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to value capture and recommend innovative approaches to enhance business performance.
