Job summary

AM General is seeking a seasoned procurement leader to develop and implement strategic purchasing plans for defense-grade manufacturing. You will lead a team of buyers and collaborate with cross-functional partners to align procurement with project goals.

The role emphasizes supplier evaluation, cost optimization, and KPI driven value capture, ensuring compliance with FAR/DFAR where applicable. You will oversee end-to-end procurement from requisition to delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or related field.
• 5+ years of procurement experience.
• Experience in US Defense Industry preferred; FAR/DFAR knowledge a plus.
• Strong leadership and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans aligned with project goals and objectives.
• Lead a team of purchasing professionals and provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
• Collaborate with Sr Buyers, Purchasing Managers, and other internal and external customers to understand requirements, specifications, and timelines to proactively plan procurement activities.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors based on capabilities, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and quality of goods and services.
• Oversee the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Analyze data and generate and maintain reports on main purchasing activities, performance, and cost savings for senior management.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on execution project plan(s), including finance, operations, and legal, to ensure seamless integration and coordination of purchasing activities.
• Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of value capture initiatives and track progress towards financial and timing goals.
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to value capture and recommend innovative approaches to enhance business performance.
