Job summary

The Larson Group Peterbilt is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations and drive profitability at our Virginia location. You will guide department managers, set objectives, and ensure staffing, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

This safety-sensitive role requires at least 3 years running an automotive or heavy equipment dealership and a business management degree; we offer PTO, holidays, benefits, a 401K, and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience operating an automotive or heavy equipment dealership.
• A college degree in business management is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hire and retain qualified department leaders to staff all areas.
• Set major objectives and plans for daily operations.
• Support managers in performance target development and execution.
• Evaluate department results against company objectives.
• Consult with department managers and HR regarding personnel decisions.
• Assist managers with major accounts and growth initiatives.
• Establish operating and financial objectives for the location.
• Ensure policies and objectives are clearly understood and applied.
• Maintain staff reviews and ensure adequate staffing.
• Develop annual and monthly business plans and budgets.
• Develop merchandising strategies with department managers.
• Oversee sales of trucks, parts, service, and body work.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Maintain communications across departments and conduct conferences as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of building and lot.
• Foster positive customer and public relations and mediate disputes.
