Morris Furniture Company, Inc. is seeking an Operations Manager to drive overall performance, efficiency, and profitability in the Distribution Center. The role requires strategic leadership across all operational functions and a focus on continuous improvement.

You will manage staffing, develop processes, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless product flow, strong KPI performance, and exceptional service levels for customers and showroom partners.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multi-functional distribution center operations.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards.
• Proven track record managing labor budgets and metrics.

Responsibilities

• Operate across the DC, customer service, and delivery as operation needs.
• Spend ~80% of time actively present in the operations, leading continuous improvement and change initiatives.
• Own P&L accountability for Distribution Center operations and provide strategic leadership across departments.
• Directly lead a team of Operations Supervisors and oversee a workforce across shifts and departments.
• Build staffing plans, schedules, and labor budgets to align headcount with volume and service levels.
• Own end-to-end product flow through the facility for inbound, storage, and outbound processes.
• Establish, monitor, and report KPIs like throughput, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support a best-in-class customer/showroom experience.
• Lead recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management for the DC workforce.
• Drive continuous improvement using SOPs and Lean/Six Sigma to reduce waste.
• Review and resolve escalated issues; identify root causes and trends.
• Manage inventory integrity through cycle counts and shrink control.
• Oversee facility safety culture and OSHA compliance, PPE, and equipment safety.
• Manage security procedures, opening/closing, and alarm systems.
• Oversee capital equipment and maintenance planning for material handling assets.
• Plan for peak-season surges and adjust staffing and space utilization.
• Analyze and report operational performance to senior leadership.
