Job summary

Morris Furniture Company, Inc. is seeking an Associate Inventory and Logistics Planner to collaborate with the Merchandise Planner on inventory, purchasing, and freight activities.

You will execute POs, manage replenishment, and negotiate freight terms to improve availability and efficiency. You will maintain stock levels, coordinate with Buying, Distribution and Stores, and identify process improvements to reduce costs and support promotions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Experience in logistics and freight management, including negotiating freight rates/terms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, data organization and reporting).
• Experience in Purchasing, Merchandising, Vendor Negotiations, and Invoice Review/Approval.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Merchandise Planner with day-to-day activities to support the merchandising department.
• Manage freight activities including shipment tracking, invoices, carrier/vendor performance, and rate negotiation.
• Audit freight and invoices to identify cost reduction and service improvements.
• Maintain stock levels and place weekly purchase orders; place daily orders for oversold products.
• Collaborate with Buying, Distribution, and Store teams to align inventory needs and timing.
• Identify process improvements to enhance customer experience and reduce waste.
