Job summary

GlobalGiving Foundation is seeking a senior, hands-on Head of Data & Analytics to lead data strategy and governance for a multi-stakeholder nonprofit marketplace. You will own end-to-end data assets, from modeling to executive dashboards, and partner with leaders to drive data-informed decisions.

You will design scalable data architecture, mentor analysts, and enable self‑serve insights across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data science roles, with at least 3 years in a senior/lead capacity.
• Proven experience as a one-person or founding data team — owning the full stack from raw data to executive dashboards.
• Hands-on with dbt and modern cloud warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
• Strong SQL and Python skills; able to write, review, and debug complex transformations.
• Ability to interview non-technical stakeholders and translate requirements into a concrete technical roadmap.
• Experience designing or refactoring production data models.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present findings to CEO/Board.
• Passion for GlobalGiving's mission and core values.

Responsibilities

• Execute executive partnership and discovery to surface key business questions and translate into a data roadmap.
• Audit and redesign data models reflecting multi-sided marketplace needs, including transaction data and engagement signals.
• Own and evolve the dbt project with documentation and tests for trusted data assets.
• Work with engineers to improve ETL pipelines and ensure clean data flows from source systems to the warehouse.
• Define and enforce data quality standards, governance practices, and metadata documentation.
• Build and maintain executive dashboards and self-serve reporting for leadership KPIs.
• Surface insights about donor behavior, partner performance, and platform health.
• Establish lightweight governance with KPI definitions and stewardship across teams.
• Foster data literacy through documentation and training; serve as analytics consultant to internal departments.
• Support leadership in identifying data-enabled strategic objectives during goal-setting cycles.
