Horizon Hobby in Champaign, IL is seeking a Credit & Collection Specialist to manage customer accounts and ensure timely payments while preserving customer relationships. The role focuses on reviewing credit applications, monitoring aging reports, contacting customers on overdue balances, and resolving billing disputes with cross-functional teams.

The position is full-time and on-site, with typical hours Monday–Friday 8am–5pm.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in credit, collections, AR, billing, or related finance role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and contact customers with past-due balances by phone, email, and written correspondence.
• Assist with payment arrangements and escalate settlement requests per policy.
• Review credit applications and provide credit limit recommendations for management review.
• Release orders on hold based on credit criteria and established guidelines.
• Place accounts on credit hold or release holds as needed.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and disputed charges with internal teams.
• Maintain accurate records of collection activity in ERP/CRM systems.
• Prepare reports on delinquent accounts, collection activity, and cash flow projections.
• Escalate complex cases to management or third-party collections as needed.
