Job summary

Worksourceheartofgeorgia is seeking a seasoned County Administrator to oversee the daily operations of county government and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and policies.

The role requires strong public administration experience, a relevant four-year degree, and 5–7 years in county administration. The position involves budget development, interdepartmental coordination, and regular interaction with Commissioners and department heads.

Qualifications

• Degree in public administration, accounting, political science, business management or a closely related field.
• Five to seven years of experience in county administration or management; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• A valid State driver’s license without record of suspension or revocation; must pass a background check and drug test.
• Bondable and of good moral character.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise county government administration and daily operations.
• Maintain communication with Constitutional Officers and Department Managers to ensure compliance with laws and policies.
• Manage budgets and supervise purchasing activities; develop annual budget with the budgetary authority.
• Provide leadership in developing short- and long-range plans; gather and prepare data for studies and reports.
• Advise County Commissioners and department heads; present to councils, boards, and the public.
• Represent the County on local/regional boards, councils, or committees; communicate official plans and procedures.
• Determine work procedures, schedules, and workflow; standardize procedures to improve efficiency.
• Issue instructions; assign duties and examine work for quality and policy conformance.
• Review statutes and ensure laws and ordinances are faithfully performed.
• Prepare preliminary annual county budget and administer adopted budget; oversee expenditures.
• Advise on financial conditions and county needs; attend meetings and prepare agendas.
