Job summary

County of Sussex seeks an experienced County Administrator to lead a broad portfolio of county operations, implement the Board’s vision, and direct daily government activities. The Administrator will develop and execute annual operating and capital budgets and coordinate with the Board and other agencies.

The role requires a strong background in public administration and local government finance, with Virginia experience preferred. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, business management, political science or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Three to five years of senior executive/administrator leadership experience.
• Knowledge of public administration, local government finance and service delivery.
• Experience with ICMA/VLGMA or pursuing ICMA Credentialed Manager is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement Board of Supervisors’ vision and direct county programs.
• Develop and implement annual operating and capital budgets.
• Advise and lead the county workforce in delivering services.
• Serve as liaison between Board, officers, courts, schools and registrar.
