Job summary

Fayette County is seeking a dynamic County Administrator to oversee day-to-day county government, implement Board policies, and drive strategic initiatives for growth and sustainability.

The role requires seasoned leadership in budgeting, intergovernmental relations, and organizational development, reporting to the Board of Commissioners under an employment contract. Candidate should bring experience with rural settings and grant oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum of five years of direct public administration experience.
• Experience with rural communities and economic development initiatives.
• Background in intergovernmental relations and grant administration.
• Demonstrated success leading organizations through periods of transition.

Responsibilities

• Serve as administrative head of county operations, enacting Board resolutions and policies.
• Attend Board meetings when required, providing professional, decision-ready materials.
• Lead strategic planning and policy development sessions with Commissioners.
• Coordinate with elected officials and agencies to align county initiatives.
• Prepare and submit the annual county budget and manage cash flow.
• Oversee contracts, grants, and financial reporting under Board limits.
• Represent the county with community organizations and intergovernmental partners.
