Job summary

Honda is seeking a Cost Planning Engineer to support the development of cost-effective parts and systems, ensuring design profitability and value. This onsite role in Ohio offers potential remote flexibility one day per week with approval.

You will generate cost estimates, collaborate with Design, Purchasing and Suppliers to optimize costs, verify targets, and lead cost discussions during reviews, while supporting cost-related investments and research themes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in product development and design leadership, with technical expertise in materials and manufacturing.
• Ability to assess design cost optimization, perform analysis using CATIA, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong teamwork skills, ability to work independently, and experience in the automotive industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Generate accurate cost estimates based on part characteristics and manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with Design, Purchasing, and Suppliers to optimize costs and identify consolidation opportunities.
• Verify cost targets, assess reasonableness, and proposing solutions to meet cost goals.
• Lead cost discussions during layout and drawing reviews, providing insights and guidance.
• Support department discussions on costs and investments.
• Providing business perspectives on cost-related research themes and reviewing quotes for accuracy.
• Performing other related duties as needed.
