American Honda Motor Company, Inc. is seeking a Cost Planning Senior Principal Engineer to lead category cost optimization, guide cross-functional teams, and align stakeholders to deliver competitive, value-driven designs.

The role emphasizes strong technical leadership, manufacturing cost awareness, and strategic decision-making. You will evaluate cost drivers, oversee analysis, and drive proposals that improve product value while balancing quality, manufacturability, and timing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s level degree in a STEM field required (Mech/Elec/Automotive/Mechatronics).
• At least 15 years of experience in product development, cost planning and technical leadership.
• Expertise in at least one area: electrical harnesses, battery management, infotainment, or interior lighting.
• Proficient in CATIA, Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead category cost optimization discussions with design, cost, and purchasing stakeholders.
• Determine recommended direction, actions, priorities, and schedule for the Cost Planning team.
• Guide cost engineers on analysis approach, issue breakdown, and timing.
• Evaluate cost targets, proposals, and feasibility with data-backed reasoning.
• Collaborate with Design, Purchasing and suppliers to assess impact on quality, manufacturability, and value.
