Job summary

val's services seeks a Cost Planning Engineer to assess cost competitiveness of parts and systems. The role requires deep understanding of design cost factors, identifying cost concerns, and proposing optimization strategies.

You will generate cost estimates, verify targets, and lead cost discussions during design activities. Occasional travel and potential remote work one day per week are noted.

Qualifications

• Generating accurate cost estimates based on part characteristics and manufacturing processes, collaborating with Design, Purchasing, and Suppliers.
• Verifying cost targets for reasonableness, developing strategies to meet targets, and balancing design costs through creative solutions.
• Leading cost discussions during layout, drawing, and correlation activities, and providing leadership and insights.
• Supporting department discussions on parts cost and investment, and reviewing proposals for new technologies or strategies.
• Performing other related duties as needed.

Qualifications Include

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in product development and design team leadership.
• Technical expertise in materials and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in CATIA, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools.
• Ability to evaluate design cost optimization opportunities and work independently or in teams.

Workstyle: Onsite with possible remote work one day a week, occasional overtime, and approximately 5-10% travel mainly domestic.
