Job summary
Honda South Carolina Manufacturing is seeking a Cost Planning Engineer to drive cost competitiveness for parts and systems. You will generate cost estimates, validate targets, and lead cost discussions across design, purchasing, and suppliers to optimize total cost.
The role requires a mechanical engineering background, 8+ years of experience in product development and design leadership, and proficiency in CATIA, Excel, and PowerPoint, with data visualization skills as a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field.
- At least 8+ years of experience in product development and design leadership.
- Demonstrable expertise in part materials and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to judge cost/investment optimization in designs.
Responsibilities
- Generate accurate cost estimates from part characteristics and processes.
- Verify reasonableness of cost targets and propose justified alternatives.
- Lead cost discussions at layout and drawing checks and correlate events.
- Support parts cost/investment discussions and decision making.
- Provide business perspective on cost-related research themes and review quotes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
