Job summary
HARMAN International is seeking a Principal Cost Engineer to drive profitability by building cost models and setting design-to-cost targets for electronic systems in automotive products. You will work across Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing to identify cost-saving opportunities with suppliers and internal teams.
The role emphasizes leadership in cross-functional settings, English fluency, and experience with complex components and modules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
- 10+ years of cost engineering experience for electronic systems.
- Proven ability to lead cost engineers and influence cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Build cost models for electronic components, modules and assemblies.
- Define best-practice cost references for Harman Automotive products at the component level.
- Analyze supplier quotes and factors affecting costs.
- Lead development of electronic system cost modeling solutions and analytics.
- Develop supplier relationships to identify cost improvements and new technologies.
- Support cross-functional teams during quoting to set reference cost targets.
- Assist procurement in target costing during negotiation events.
