Job summary

HARMAN International is seeking a Senior Cost & Sustainability Engineer to drive profitability, sustainability goals, and growth through cross-functional collaboration with Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing. You will establish cost targets and CO2e reduction plans for automotive components and systems.

The role reports to the Cost & Sustainability Engineering Lead and is an individual contributor position. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Minimum 6 years work experience in cost engineering or related fields.
• Experience with factors impacting design for CO2e improvement.
• Experience with complex components, modules, assemblies.
• Technical contribution on review of cost engineers' work.
• Ability to break down component costs into constituent costs.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams to align on technical solutions.
• Experience supporting procurement in supplier negotiations.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Build cost and life-cycle CO2e assessment models for components, modules and assemblies.
• Establish reference cost targets and cost reduction opportunities in new business quotes.
• Review supplier cost breakdowns and identify influencing factors.
• Develop analytics to enable CO2e trend data and cost insights.
• Collaborate with engineering, product sourcing and suppliers to identify best-cost solutions.
• Support cross-functional teams during negotiation events to achieve target costing.
• Contribute to category strategy and sustainability roadmaps with cross-functional alignment.
• Develop cost engineering infrastructure and standards.
