Job summary

Renew Cannabis Co. seeks a Corporate Controller to lead all accounting and financial reporting activities in California. You will direct the accounting department, ensure GAAP compliance, manage ERP systems, and support strategic growth with timely financial statements.

This role partners with the CFO, oversees audits, strengthens internal controls, and drives process improvements across month-end and annual closes, taxes, and regulatory filings.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum 7 years in corporate finance roles with cash management and reporting responsibilities.
• Expert MS Office and Excel skills; proficient with general ledger systems.
• Experience with cost allocations and intercompany transactions.
• External audit experience preferred; cannabis industry exposure a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversees Accounting Department structure, systems, and staffing to meet goals.
• Partners with VP of Accounting and CFO to design, implement accounting policies, control systems, and reporting structures.
• Directs AP, GL, reconciliations, balance sheet management, fixed assets, leases, intercompany eliminations, payroll accounting, liability accruals, insurance, and tax filings.
• Ensures monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements are accurate and timely.
• Leads research and application of complex technical accounting matters for GAAP and regulatory compliance.
• Manages month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for timely reporting.
• Maintains strong quality control over all financial transactions, reporting, and reconciliations.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal reporting and tax filing requirements.
• Develops and enhances business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
• Supports budgeting and forecasting by preparing budgets and providing insights to leadership.
• Maintains ERP data integrity and GAAP-compliant financial data.
• Reconciles fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Oversees budget and P&L analysis with variance reporting and strategic recommendations.
• Coordinates internal and external audits and tax filings across jurisdictions.
• Complies with registrations, licensing, and payroll requirements across locations.
• Supports pricing analyses and financial modeling for new bids.
• Provides leadership and training to Accounting and Finance teams.
