Job summary

California Waste Solutions in Oakland is seeking a strategic finance leader to oversee all accounting operations, CAPEX management, and regulatory compliance for a premier waste management and recycling firm.

The Controller will ensure GAAP compliance, manage budgeting and financial reporting, mentor the accounting team, and partner with plant and logistics leaders to drive cost control and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 6–8 years of experience as a Controller.
• Experience managing budgets and mentoring staff.
• Strong GAAP knowledge; can ensure compliance and controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting records for all entities and adjust financials.
• Lead budgeting, policy development, and internal controls.
• Coordinate tax forms, audits, and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare monthly statements and management reports.
• Develop staff training and performance criteria.
• Travel to Oakland, CA and San Jose, CA facilities.
