Nominal is seeking a Corporate Controller to build and lead its accounting function in Los Angeles, CA or Austin, TX. This hands-on leadership role thrives in a high-growth, venture-backed environment and involves shaping processes and controls to scale with the business.

The Corporate Controller will own accounting end-to-end, establish scalable processes, lead audits, and collaborate with executives across Finance, Sales, Operations, Engineering and Legal to support rapid growth.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or high-growth startups.
• Strong US GAAP, ASC 606, financial reporting, controls, and audit expertise.
• CPA designation and experience owning a full accounting function.
• Experience with ERP implementations and modern accounting systems.
• Government contract accounting experience, CAS/FAR, is a plus.
• International or multi-entity accounting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close, financial reporting, AP/AR, and general accounting, providing leadership with actionable data to inform strategic decision-making.
• Serve as a strategic, data-driven, tech-forward partner to senior leadership.
• Establish accounting policies, processes, controls, and scalable infrastructure.
• Lead technical accounting, including US GAAP and ASC 606.
• Manage the annual audit and external accounting relationships.
• Implement and optimize ERP and modern accounting systems.
• Build and develop the accounting organization.
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Legal.
• Support government and defense contract accounting, including CAS and FAR.
• Oversee international and multi-entity accounting, including consolidations, tax, and transfer pricing.
